Certified USAW Level 2-Advanced Sports Performance Coach | Certified USAW Level 1-Sports Performance Coach
I was a competitive swimmer for twelve years. After graduating high school you could always find me at LA Fitness on the treadmill. I found CrossFit in 2013 and found myself drawn particularly to the Olympic lifts. I now train, compete, and coach in the sport of Competitive Weightlifting.
I was bored in my LA Fitness routine and looking to change things up. A friend recommended I try CrossFit and I was immediately hooked on the variation and programming. Going to a CrossFit gym taught me that my fears of lifting weights and becoming “too bulky” were irrational, and I loved that I was getting stronger every day.
Weightlifting is all about technique and repetition, and no two paths to success are the same. As a coach I have to find the perfect cue at the right time for each of my athletes. I live for the look on someone’s face when one of my instructions finally “clicks”. I call it the “Ah-ha” moment.
The Olympic lifts are complex, technical movements that can be very intimidating. They require patience and practice to learn. My goal in each Olympic Weightlifting class is to help members build a better understanding and comfortability with the barbell. I do that by creating a safe, approachable environment where even the most novice of athletes feel included and is able to improve their technique.
