Head Coach | Certified CrossFit Level 2 Trainer | Certified CrossFit Gymnastics Trainer | AED/CPR Certified
I’ve been competing in team sports for as long as I can remember, including varsity basketball, football, baseball and lacrosse in high school. I ended up with a scholarship to Ursinus College where I played lacrosse but also picked up roller hockey to supplement my offseason strength training. I still play hockey every week and I’m always looking for new friends to come out and apply their fitness on the rink.
After graduating college I fell into the same old boring “arm day and leg day” gym routine. It wasn’t satisfying and being without a team of athletic peers for the first time in my life meant I could get away with being lazy. In 2011 a high school buddy of mine who became an Army Ranger came home from deployment with the idea of teaching functional fitness at a local playground for $5/day. In 2012 he opened his first box, at which I was one of the founding members. I finally had accountability back in my life, and I’ve never looked back.
There is no better feeling than seeing a person I’ve coached achieve their fitness goals, perform movements they had never dreamed of performing, or look the way they’ve always wanted to look. I’ll never get tired of seeing someone get their first kipping pull up or perfect the double under.
My priority as a coach is to ensure that my athletes are walking upright and mobile well into their twilight years. I’m the coach who thinks weightlifting is a necessary evil. I’ll always stress adding intensity instead of volume or load, and I’ll never believe there is such a thing as a person who is “too out of shape” to become functionally fit.
